Wednesday Night Dancing

Every week, dances taught include gammaldans favorites (schottis, waltz, hambo, polka), and featured polskas or other bygdedans (regional dance) variations from Sweden and Norway.

Please join our email list for announcements about weekly teaching .

Our dance floor is in the Town and Village Synagogue 334 East 14th Street, NYC (between 1st and 2nd Aves)

All levels welcome, bring a partner or come alone!

Program:

(Please Note: Our New Evening Schedule features earlier dance lessons, with more open dancing time! )

  • 7:00 - 7:45 Teaching: featured dance of the evening, all levels welcome
  • 7:45 - 8:45 Open Dancing - gammaldans & most popular Swedish polskas
  • 8:45 - 9:15 Mini-Review of one or more dances, followed by a short break
  • 9:15 - 9:45 Norwegian dances: Springars, Gangars, Springleiks, others
  • 9:45 - 10:30 Dance requests &/or Swedish regional dances

Live Music by members of the New York Spelmanslag, often with special guests on fiddle, nyckelharpa, and hardingfele!

Admission: $8 per evening ($10 for some special events)

Light refreshments served

Note: Please bring clean leather soled shoes with low heels for dancing. They will make the turning easier, and protect the wooden dance floor.
